Trusting Your Voice

Jacqueline Gerena·Apr 28, 2026· 1 minute

One of the things I’ve come to appreciate over time is how long it can take people to trust their own voice. When we’re younger—or when we enter new spaces—it’s natural to spend a lot of time observing. We listen carefully, try to understand how things work, and sometimes hold our thoughts back while we’re figuring things out.

And then gradually something shifts. We begin to realize that our experiences, our perspective, and the way we see the world have value too. Watching that realization happen in someone is always special. It’s not speaking louder or having all the answers. It’s simply recognizing that our voice belongs in the conversation too.
